WORKING HARDER
People are often aware of their weaknesses and investing a lot of time and resources into improving in those areas. But no matter how hard we try to work on our weaknesses, the outcomes will not be as significant in comparison to when we put the same amount of effort in ways we uniquely excel. In other words, living into our full selves - as we were meant to live - will lead to greater results and satisfaction.
Think about Olympians. I will never be one, no matter how much effort and resources are invested. My athletic ability is limited and any growth would require exponential effort and result in a lot of disappointing failure. Would I even fully show up to practice when a dead end is always in sight? This is a simple way to understand why a Strengths-Based Approach creates greater impact, whether for an individual, team, or organization.
But what if you don't know your strengths or that of your team members? We are often that person who continues to feel frustrated and/or unproductive - either with ourselves, others, or the team we are managing.
